Forming

Proshort provides state-of-the-art forming services.

Forming is the process of reshaping metal or plastics, without adding or removing material.

Our forming fabrication mission is to meet your print specifications and urgent delivery demands for quantities ranging from 1 to 50,000 pieces. Our experienced tool and die makers and machinists get your part from concept to tangible part fast.

There are many types of forming services:

Compressive forming could include rolling (passing the material through a pair of rollers), extrusion (pushing the material through an orifice), die forming (stamping the material around or onto a die), forging (shaping the material by localized compressive forces), or indenting (pressing a tool into the workpiece).

Tensile forming could include stretching (applying a tensile load along the longitudinal axis of the workpiece), expanding (increasing the circumference a hollow body by tangential loading), or recessing (forming depressions or holes through tensile loading).

Combined tensile and compressive forming could include pulling a workpiece through a die, deep drawing, spinning, flange forming, or upset bulging.

Bending, shearing, and a number of other forming processes could be used to provide your perfect parts needs.

Forming services can be used for metals such as sheet metal, stainless steel, brass, bronze, mild steel, and aluminum plate to name a few.

Proshort can form:

Brackets, plates, discs, washers, mounting plates, mounting brackets, steps, backing plates, flanges, heater supports, base plates, spacers, corner plates, angle brackets, switch plates, windshield brackets, belt covers, beveled plates, arms, caps, etc.
